Recently, I attended the Mary Boykin Chesnut symposium at the University of South Carolina. Marty Daniels, a descendant of Mary Chesnut’s, and Barbara McCarthy have published the Civil War photography album compiled by Mrs. Chesnut. I am finding the album to be fascinating!
In my novel, I have included letters from the Civil War era that delve into the ancestry of hero, Cooper Heath. While writing this portion of my novel, I was inspired by the writings I read in Mrs. Chesnut’s Civil War diary. I’m glad the photographs made it home to the Chesnut ancestral home of Mulberry!
Looks great!
